Alpine Dam After A Mid-May Storm

A relatively benign 2019 El Nino continues to soak Northern California well into May. Last week consisted of one moderate rain storm after another. So, on Friday (5/17) I drove over to Marin County to see how the creeks were flowing. My curiosity was quickly satisfied when I reached Alpine Dam and saw a significant volume of water passing through the flood gates and into Lagunitas Creek. From the perspective of nearly 70 years of fishing trips to this pretty lake, I never have seen this volume of water being spilled so late in Spring.
