SUZANNE BEAN -- Resume
Suzanne Bean was born and raised in the suburbs of Chicago where she learned to paint and love watercolors from her artist father. She majored in art at the University of Iowa. Suzanne moved to Marin in 1975 and has been an exhibiting artist in the Bay Area since 1984. She retired in 2008 from a graphic design career with the California courts. Suzanne was a studio artist at Art Works Downtown from 2010 through 2016; she now provides pro bono copy editing for AWD publications, and works on call as a facilities monitor currently focusing on cleaning up AWD's database.
Suzanne developed her colorful abstract photography -- digital abstracts --15 years ago as a result of her deep immersion in Photoshop at her graphic design work. They were immediately well received, and she is best known for this work. She found that traditional black and white photography really is the basis for all her work as it strips away distracting color and lays bare the compelling compositions that attract her. Suzanne also works in watercolor, acrylics, and mixed media/collage and is a veteran urban sketcher. Images of all her work can be seen at suzbart.com.
